Committee on Uniform Cataloguing Rules. The two contracts with UNESCO, to publish approved forms of entry for names of states and for anonymous classics were finished in 1964, and have been published by this Committee in provisional editions, for comment, at :ßl each. (Other activities of this Committee are described in Mr. ) Committee on Union catalog11-eS and International Loans. The proposed new form for internationalloans is published in the latest number of Libri, and it is hoped to adopt it at the Session in Helsinki.
7. The Secretariat. The principal activities have, as usual, been international correspondence, publications and preparations and reports in connection with the Executive Board and the General Council. The number of letters received during the year was 1,242 (in only 11 months 142 more than last year) , while 3,401 were dispatched, including the distribution of IFLA News (c. 1,400) and the beginning of the distribution of " Books on the East " (170). Mrs. M. Pender has continued as typist and secretary to the Secretariat, working an average of 17 hours per week-rather less than last year, but with egual efficiency.
A Seminar was held in Paris on May 24-26, to continue and deepen the comparative international study begun earlier by means of a questionnaire. A full report will be published later. Committee on lvlechanization. Dr. Günther Pflug, of Bochum, has consented to be chairman of this Committee, subject to election at the Session at Helsinki. 33 4. Relations with UNESCO. The work done under the six eontracts with UNESCO for 1963/1964 has been finished, with the exeeption of the study of legal deposit whieh has been delayed.
